First heard Freckleton at Blackpool Tower Circus Contest in 1956. The contest was organized by my old band, Norman Memorial. A horn player and his cornet player wife from the Memorial Band joined Freckleton about that same year (forgot their names). I played in the Memorial Band when Ian Walsh was the principal cornet player. He always used to end our South Pier concerts with "Abide With Me" as a cornet solo.

Morning all, yet another duvet day, and a chance to say thank you for the last 2 years.
I had a great time - listening in awe to the silver foxes awesome technique(!), having my ego boosted courtesy of Mr Cattanach (not!!!), and engaging in light hearted banter with "chuckles" Brewer.
Missing you already - gosh I wish I was ciontesting
JonathanAdmin reply: Tsk. You know you'll miss us all. And you loved the contesting really.

Hi Guys, just to say...I have had a great 7 years with the band. I still remember my 1st contest at Fleetwood. Oh, I also remember Journey into Freedom where I helped on Bass Drum, only 1 stick AND no drum stand, and did superb 'drum trills', I thought there was only 1 stick used, novice or what!!! I will be sitting on the front row at Fleetwood this year (permitting no new band gigs with myself). I wish you all the best at Fleetwood and all other contests....Hey, play well Mike! Phil Symonds

Hi there. I hope the band are well. I was glimpsing through your photography of the English Nationals. I was hoping that you would have put pictures of Smed and Fester on from Hepworth and Rothwell respectively. I believe that these are fine sop players who are worthy of far more praise than they receive. They played blinders on the day. Anywho, its nice to see you supporting local contests FlugelgirlAdmin reply: Hi Flugelgirl,
Thanks for your comment.....
There are conflicting opinions of 'what' if not 'how much' info I put on the website that is not related to Freckleton Band.
Some people are pleased that it is regularly updated and some moan that not enough news is about the band itself.
I took lots of pics on the day and have a few of Rothwell and lots of Hepworth.
Please free to contact me if you wish to have them on.....phil_symonds@hotmail.com

I hope some members of the band heard tonight's 'Listen to the Band' programme on BBC Radio 2, which included the march "Freckleton". It sounded very good and I am sure other listeners to the programme enjoyed it too. With best regards from Fred Pamphilion in LancasterAdmin reply: Thanks again Fred, nice to see we have a great supporter. When you are next with us, please come and say hello to me. Phil Symonds
